In Home Care FAQs
  • Is there a minimum required amount of hours?
Three hours per day, for as little as one day a week.

  • What happens if I do not like the person working with me? What happens if my daughter doesn’t like the person?
If any family member or client is not entirely pleased with the caregiver, simply contact the Hands and Hearts Home Care office and let us know! We will quickly assign another caregiver to the case and follow up the following day to receive feedback.

  • Do you accept long term care insurance?
Hands and Hearts Home does accept Long Term Care (LTC) insurance and work with many carriers such as, John Hancock, MetLife, Genworth, CNA, etc. We have a dedicated team to deal with LTC and will handle all the required paperwork to open and invoice LTC. The best news is there is no additional charge for this service!

  • Do you accept Medicaid?
Hands and Hearts Home Care is an approved provider of Medicaid.

  • How is the plan of care created?
Our director will visit the client’s home and “open the case”. What that means is we will do multiple assessments such as a mini-mental to task cognition, fall risk assessment where they will look at your home and make suggestions of any high fall risk areas, ensure the client has all the equipment they need (i.e., elevated toilet seat, grab bars, walker, etc.) and complete a plan of care. A plan of care is an instruction sheet for the caregivers. It tells them very specifically what to do every day and how often. It also tells them what to look out for and when to notify the office. The director will work with the client and any family members present to help create the plan of care so that everyone understands the caregivers expectations. The plan of care is updated every 6 months.

  • Do the caregivers receive ongoing training?
On-going training and education plays an important role in supporting our caregivers’ development .
Courses and seminars offered on a continuing basis, including topics such as Communicating with Seniors, Planning Daily Activities, Recognizing Illnesses and Depression, and Safety Training.
Advanced topics such as Alzheimer’s Training and Personal Care Assistant (PCA) training are offered on a quarterly basis.

  • Do you supervise your employees?
Supervision is a very important part of home care. Too often, employees feel like they are on remote islands in their client’s homes. We have unannounced RN visits periodically to ensure that not only our clients but employees needs are being met.

  • Can you provide services in a facility: hospital, rehabilitation, senior living?
Hands and Hearts Home Care is permitted to provide services in any facility such as a hospital, sub-acute rehabilitation center, assisted living, etc. Hands and Hearts Home Care will call ahead to the facility to understand their requirements and documentation needs so that the caregiver can easily gain access and assist their client while in a facility.

  • Is there a long term commitment?
No. Whether short term, long term, or overnight, our services are available in any capacity you wish to receive it. Their are no commitments on your part; you may call us any time to take advantage of our premium services.
How do our services differ from hiring someone privately?
It is imperative to trust someone before letting them into your home. Our caregivers go through a complete personality and background check prior to being hired. We ensure our caregivers have a passion for helping others and truly care for their clients. We consider our company to be a large family and when you choose Hands and Hearts Home Care, we like to think that you are becoming a part of our family as well.
